He’s softer with older kids and clings to his people like velcro, but he’ll bark at the mailman, the squirrel, and possibly the toaster. His non-shedding coat is great for allergies, but don’t be fooled. those curls demand regular clipping and upkeep, not just brushing. He’s not the best fit if you already have a cat or a hamster; that prey drive doesn’t clock out. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog, or PON, is more of a diplomat. Bred to manage flocks, he’s biddable, observant, and thrives on structure. He’s more adaptable to city life or smaller homes, as long as he gets daily mental and physical work. His long, woolly coat is high maintenance too. think weekly baths and trims. but it’s built for snow and sleet, not just show. He’s affectionate with his family but can be reserved with strangers, and he’s less likely to pick a fight with another dog if properly socialized. Here’s the real difference: the Kerry Blue wants to lead the adventure. The PON wants to partner in it. If you’re up for negotiation and spirited debates, go Kerry. If you want a dog who’ll follow your lead in agility, herding, or just hiking in the rain, the PON’s your guy. Neither is for beginners, but if you’re ready for a thinker with fur, both are worth the work.
