Their hair grows like human hair and needs daily brushing unless you keep it short. And yes, you’ll still find tiny strands on your dark clothes. The Shih Tzu, meanwhile, is a people-loving tank. They’re sturdier, pack up to 16 pounds, and handle kids better. Bred to sit on imperial laps, they carry that regal chill into modern homes. They’re slightly easier to train. not because they’re smarter, but because they’re more easygoing about it. But here’s the real talk: that pushed-in face causes breathing issues. They snort. They overheat fast. No dog park runs in summer for these guys. If you want a velcro dog who doubles as a living accessory, go Maltese. If you want a cheerful, kid-tolerant companion who loves everyone equally and can handle a bit more chaos, pick the Shih Tzu. Just commit to the grooming either way. this isn’t a low-maintenance fluff club.
